Estate agents fees – Are they negotiable?
Would you pay your estate agents’ asking price?
If you walk into an estate agent’s office, how comfortable would you feel about haggling over the price of their services?
Would you do it or would you accept their commission without question?
This survey suggests most of us probably just roll over – but it’s also a survey which doesn’t exactly cover estate agents in glory: (https://www.propertywire.com/news/uk/sellers-uk-save-money-questioning-agent-fees-survey-suggests/)
Of course there will some tough negotiators out there who would argue, if you’re selling your home, then it’s down to you to strike a deal you’re happy with; if you fail to do so, then more fool you …
But, worryingly, the statistics suggest almost half of the vendors surveyed felt pressurised into paying their agent the fee they demanded.
What’s the choice?
Yes, it’s a tough market and, with so much competition both on the high street and online, agents have to fight for every instruction. But is pressuring a potential client into coughing up thousands of pounds in fees the best way to do it? The fact almost a third of the customers surveyed regretted not haggling over cost suggests not.
If you instruct us at eSale, you do have a choice. You can either pay a set fee on completion – like you would with a high street agent – but with no hidden extras. Alternatively, you can cut your costs in half by paying a set fee up-front – with the added reassurance of our no-quibble guarantee which allows you to ask for your money back if you’re not happy after 30 days.
We promise no hard-sell techniques; we promise good, old-fashioned customer service; we promise you won’t find yourself dealing with an impersonal call centre. We hope all three ensure we offer value for money – as you might expect for Yorkshire’s own online estate agent.
But what we hope more than anything else is that our customers enjoy selling their homes with us, that they feel we deliver what we promise and that, whether a sale goes through or not, that we did our very best by them for a fee we deserve.
Our ratings on independent review website Trustpilot place ahead of most of our larger rivals; we’ve also won awards for our customer service.
But, as the saying goes: “the proof of the (Yorkshire?) pudding is in the eating”. So, if you’d like to find out whether we live up to promises, why not give a call? After all our guarantee means, if you’re not happy after a month, you can ask for your money back. What have you got to lose?
