Are people really looking for a new house at Christmas?
Every year it’s the same.
Vendors saying that they will wait until the new year until they put their property on the market.
And every year we tell them that a surprising number of people want to look for a new house over Christmas, and it’s true.
We will be working over the festive period and while many of our Estate agent friends are having a merry time, we will be arranging viewings, taking offers and selling property.
Because surprisingly – it’s a very busy time of year.
Not only do people still want to buy a new house, the amount of property on the market will probably be as low as it’s been all year.
Meaning the chances of attracting viewers is even greater.
Zoopla, one of the largest property portals in the UK have just produced some stats which not only back up what we have been saying but goes to show that if you haven’t got your property on the market over Christmas you’re really missing a trick.
Recent marketing literature sent to agents quote “property searches rise by 96% over Christmas and the New Year and their site visits are expected to increase by 13 million during the festive period”
And it’s not too late. From your instruction to getting the advert live on the websites is typically just a few days.
So if you are wondering whether to put the house on the market before Christmas, our advice would be –
to go for it.
As always, if we can be of any help, don’t hesitate to give us a call – we’ll be here.
