Norwich is located on the River Wensum in England. It’s a good place for those that are planning a city break. Landmarks here include the Norwich Cathedral, the Castle, the Cow Tower, The Dragon hall, The forum, the Great Hospital, The Surrey House and the Guild Hall, among others, you may also want to visit the University of Arts.

LET’S MOVE TO … NORWICH

Norwich’s location may have sometimes played a part in it lagging behind other parts of the UK. Bereft of raw materials to play a part in the Industrial Revolution, it lost its place as England’s second-largest city as Manchester, Birmingham and even Leeds prospered in an era when coal, steel and iron drove the nation.
But, always welcoming and inventive, the city found its own way by enticing skilled artisans from across the channel to found mills and weaving rooms which helped the city find its own niche in textiles and cloth – a legacy still evident today in the warm welcome to be found for strangers in Norfolk.

Modern Norwich

Rebuilt and renewed after some hefty punishment from the Luftwaffe during the Second World War, Norwich has much more to offer than Alan Partridge, Coleman’s Mustard, Bernard Matthews and a football team still oscillating between the Premier League and Championship.
For example, did you know it’s home to the largest six-days-a-week open air market in England? How about the innovative Castle Mall, built into the side of a hill to aid its integration into the townscape? Did you know there’s a lively independent retailers’ movement? How about the fact the city has 56 primary schools and 13 secondary schools to choose from, its own regional newspaper, arts centre, a number of museums, theatres and cinemas?
The East Coast and resorts such as Great Yarmouth and Caister-on-Sea are also within easy reach as well as the picturesque and popular Norfolk Broads.

Transport links

But, while Norwich may have once been out on a limb, modern road and rail networks mean London is no more than a couple of hours away while the city’s international airport offers links to Europe and beyond through several carriers offering scheduled flights and holiday charters. Peterborough and Cambridge are not too far either – although we probably better not mention Ipswich thanks to a centuries-old rivalry between East Anglia’s largest settlements!

Property

With connectivity not the issue it once was, property prices have gathered a little pace but are still relatively reasonable when compared with towns and cities closer to London. For example, browsing using search terms such as online estate agents Norwich, or Norwich estate agents with a budget of around £300,000 might be enough to net a few comfortable detached houses somewhere like Eaton or Upper Hellesdon while £200,000 might highlight a choice of three-bedroom terraces, town houses and semi-detached homes in Sprowston or Old Catton.
But remember we’re here to help so, as you’re already on our website, why not click over to our properties page to see what we have on offer, what’s sold recently and for how much?
